There was a graphic once comparing the various average worker:CEO salary rates. Japan, I think, was the lowest, with maybe… 1:13 or something? And then the United States with maybe 1:250. How terrible.
In history, recently, we’ve been learning about European history. One specific topic we covered was class differences. And then how the aristocracy held basically… the vast majority of the power. Power over land, over money, over the people below them… and even in this “aristocratic resurgence”, they tried to rebel even when they were so powerful, by fighting for their “rights” - to stay in power, be exempt from certain taxes…
Even when the chapter was titled something like “European Society Under the Old Regime”, and defined as being about the times before the French Revolution in 1789, it made me sad how I felt that similar problems are still so prevalent in society of 2012.
Why can’t the CEO’s in this country be like this?
